Civil Beat posted a story today on the Ritz Carlton tower under development in Waikiki (see link below). The story explains how the DPP (Department of Permitting and Planning) Director, (George Atta) ignored the Special District Design Guidelines, the Waikiki Neighborhood Board, the Design Advisory Committee, and the community who fought endless hours to try and uphold the design guidelines.
It’s a good read. And also includes how the community tried to alert the DPP that a critical photo in the Draft EA which showed a substantially lesser effect on a neighborhood street behind the tower was inaccurate, to which the DPP also ignored.
