Example of a simple, and to the point testimony
Aloha Mr. Jiro Sumada,
Thank you for taking time to read my testimony. I am a resident of the Four Paddle Building across the street from the proposed 2121 Kuhio Tower Project. I live on the mountain side of the building, so my personal view will not be affected by the proposed project. My husband is a marble mason, so we support construction projects in Waikiki. My concern with the project is how the proposed Tower Project will affect the Waikiki Community at large. A huge “wall” like structure that parallels the ocean will drastically affect the openness and community feel of the area. We should follow the Waikiki Special District Guidelines and we should listen to the Waikiki Neighborhood Board’s stance regarding the building’s orientation. Both are against the current “wall” orientation. A tall thin building would be more attractive and enhance the Waikiki skyline vs. a huge “wall” like structure that would damage the skyline. Poor planning now could affect future development in the area and damage the impression we give to tourists as they arrive in Waikiki. We do not want a huge ugly “wall” in Waikiki. It will set a bad precedent for future development projects.
Please only approve this project if it is built using the V-shaped Mauka/Makai building orientation.
Mahalo for your consideration,
